Bookstore Operations Specialist

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest is accepting applications for a full-time Bookstore Operations Specialist.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or HiSET/GED required, technical diploma in related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in retail sales, ordering, and inventory control required.
  • Prior experience in overseeing a retail establishment preferred.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Must possess organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Experience using QuickBooks and Banner a plus.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift cartons of 50 lbs. or more, unpack products, and organize items on shelves.


  • Responsible for duties associated with the management, billing, accounts receivable, and day-to-day operations of the on-campus bookstore.
  • Work with instructors and Student Services to determine books and supplies orders for each program.
  • Complete requisitions/purchase order process utilizing the Jaggaer system.
  • Work directly with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes, order merchandise, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Provide inventory control to assure the store is not overstocked and books are available when needed.
  • Record and file sales tax.
  • Work with Financial Aid Department, Business Office, and Student Accounts for billing.
  • Oversee billing and accounts receivable for bookstore purchases for all campus locations.
  • Work independently and in a team environment according to the assigned work tasks.
  • Maintain a high level of detail and accuracy when recording sales, purchasing merchandise, and documenting inventory.
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning student accounts and vendor files.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Lead Student Services Coordinator, Vice Presidents, and President.

Salary Range

Commensurate with education and experience and according to salary guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
