Adult Education Part-Time Correctional Instructor (Grant Funded)

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest is accepting applications for a Part-Time Instructor working in the Adult Education Program in the Lake County and Dyer County Jails. The instructor interacts with students and provides instruction and registration/intake-related services for potential and current students.   

Salary:Commensurate with education and experience and according to salary guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education or related field  

Office Skills: Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.), as well as the ability to use other computer software. 

Strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal/customer service skills, and organizational and analytical skill 

Participate in local and state activities/staff development. 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in an adult education environment. 

Knowledge of data management systems. 

Demonstrate command of content knowledge of current AE Curriculum and recommended resources. 

Responsibilities

Teach reading, writing, math, science, and social studies to correctional students, and assist them with resume writing, job applications, and career readiness in correctional facilities. 

Assist students with HiSET/GED account creation, exam scheduling, and establishing Diploma Sender accounts for diploma process 

Manage daily attendance for accuracy with a timely submission. 

Administer Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) assessments for students during orientation and for those pursuing the Alternative Pathways Diploma option. 

Oversee Orijin Tablets usages of students using TABE Test, and other tablet programs and certifications 

Administer the Official Practice Test (OPT) to assess student readiness for the HiSET exam and provide feedback for further preparation. 

Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director.
