Automotive Technology Associate Instructor

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest is accepting applications for a full time Automotive Technology Associate Instructor for the day program at the Newbern campus.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Technical Diploma in the instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in a related field. Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of full-time work experience in the automotive mechanics field within the last five (5) years.
  • Must possess all required ASE certifications and/or accreditations for the field or the ability to become certified within twelve (12) calendar months
  • Experience with electric vehicle maintenance and repair is highly desired.
  • Teaching experience. Possess organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor. Strong customer service skills.
  • Computer skills, including general knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Skill in managing deadlines and workings in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills to inspect troubleshoot, service, and repair domestic and import automotive systems utilizing safe and proper methods, techniques, practices, and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop course of study and conduct training program in specialty area.
  • Confer with administration to gain knowledge and better understand changes in policies, procedures, and technologies.
  • Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods utilizing knowledge of specific training needs and effectiveness of such methods as individualized and group instruction, lecture, demonstration, and conference. Supervise students that are participating in cooperative education.
  • Test trainees to measure progress and evaluate effectiveness of instruction.
  • Select or develop specifications for machines, equipment, and tools; maintain good physical condition in classroom and/or shop.
  • Maintain student records and reports. Responsible for student placement and assist with student follow-up. Participate in recruitment of students.
  • Cooperate with outside agencies; work with program advisory committees; conduct visits to business and industry; establish and maintain good public relations with the school’s general public. Participate in professional development and growth annually.
  • Instruct students in safety and practice good safety habits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

Commensurate with education and experience and according to salary guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
