Heating, Ventilation, Airconditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) Full-Time Associate Instructor – West Tennessee State Penitentiary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest is accepting applications for the full-time position of HVAC/R Technology Associate Instructor at the West Tennessee State Penitentiary located in Henning, TN.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma or degree, or higher-level post-secondary credential in a related field preferred.

  •  Minimum of three years of experience in the HVAC/R field within the last five years.
  •  Must possess a high degree of knowledge in all phases of residential and commercial HVAC/R systems to include the installation and service.
  • EPA 608 Universal certification required HVAC Excellence or NATE Certifications are preferred.
  • Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students is a plus.
  •  Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field.

Responsibilities

 The HVAC/R Associate Instructor at the West Tennessee State Penitentiary is responsible for instructing rehabilitation and correctional students in vocational training to prepare them to re-enter the job market in the HVAC/R industry. This position provides theory and hands-on skills instruction to students in areas including, but not limited to troubleshooting, installation, and service. The instructor must monitor, grade and evaluate individual students’ progress; maintain appropriate documentation of student progress; submit timely reports; and maintain close communication with correctional personnel and TCAT Northwest administration.

Salary Range

Commensurate with education and experience according to the Tennessee Board of Regents and Tennessee College of Applied Technology guidelines.
