Machine Tool Technology Instructor

Required Qualifications

  • Technical diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education with credentials in related field; Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in machine tool.
  • Must be proficient in the use of vertical and horizontal milling machines, manual engine lathes, grinders, drill press, saws, Die sinker EDM, computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines such as Fanuc controllers; Haas Machining Centers and other equipment related to the machine tool industry.
  • Must possess the organizational and communications skills necessary to be an effective teacher and to interact with high school and adult students.
  • Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students is preferred.

Responsibilities

This position provides theory and hands-on skills instruction to students in areas including, but not limited to math concepts, engineering drawings, benchwork, manual machines, manual lathes, manual milling machines, computerized numerical controls machining, precision grinding, additive manufacturing, and electrical discharge machining. The instructor must monitor and evaluate individual students’ progress; maintain appropriate documentation of student progress; and submit timely reports.

Salary Range

Commensurate with qualifications and experience and according to salary guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
